About the role
SmartAC.com is seeking someone for a hands-on well-rounded accounting and admin role. You are a self-starter who can multi-task with the best of them, passionate about your work, seeks to continually learn and enjoy teaming with others. This is not a position for the faint of heart so be ready to go from day one. You will report to the COO and will work closely with our outsourced accounting/book-keeping firm. We’re seeking a person who can be the internal lead on accounting needs, but also cover other admin and office management functions as required for a fast-growing company.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance with 3-5 years experience
  • Comfortable playing the part of controller from time to time
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP; CPA a plus
  • You are organized and efficient

  • You can handle multiple projects/tasks while keeping attention to the details
  • You are comfortable with pressure, deadlines, responsibilities and work-product ownership

  • Common Activities
  • Oversee month-end closing of books
  • Financial Statements: Prepare, review, analyze, and explain
  • Manage accounts receivable and revenue recognition; manage accounts payable
  • Maintain accounting schedules and accurate General Ledger
  • Create and maintain internal processes and controls
  • Help create and track existing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Analyze trends and variances for possible discrepancies
  • Assist in budget development process; budget vs. actual analysis
  • This is a non-supervisory position, but you will assist in and oversee traditional accounting functions and will also get involved with customer credit, purchasing, inventory ad hoc reporting and business compliance. Yes, we said this was a role for the multi-tasker. We presently use QuickBooks on-line so you must know how to use this software package (or be willing to learn very quickly) as well as have strong Excel spreadsheet skills.
